XC/Trail - 650B - Alluminium - Mondraker Vantage R 650B 2016

With time, I realised that a dream bike didnt have to be a full high end carbon bike, but that it could also be a rather affordable bike, which doesnt require milions to be built ! This is why I decided to keep doing high end bikes, but also some lower end bikes, like this Mondraker hardtail enduro bike.

Introduction :

The Vantage is a high-travel hardtail trail bike, something that (in France at least) we call Endurigide. to be honest, I never really understood why would somebody ride Enduro trails with a bike which is not meant to Enduro, but it seems that this kind of bike tends to be appreciated by riders. So here is my Endurigide set up !
Suspensions :

That point was pretty difficult to choose... Indeed, I needed a fork which was not too expensive (around 500€) but which could do a heavy Enduro job with no problems... This type of ride is very hard for the bike : you have less travel than an Enduro bike, and more pressure on it since you dont have a rear suspensions... I took the RockShox Revelation RCT3 140mm fork, the Pike being too expensive.

Transmission :

Back to Shimano ! Black wires (about cables, they are not internally routed on that bike, budget didnt allow that !) from Shimano, SLX 10 speed cassette crankset and shifters, XT deraileurs and Saint botom bracket bearing will be mounted on that bike. Why Saint ? Because they are meant for DH, which means more resistance. To connect them all, I took a KMC X10SL gold finished chain, held in place by a DM3 Enduro chainguide which will, hopefully, avoid that chain to come off while you are riding hard.

 Drive Train :

I needed low price wheels, which were meant for enduro (enduro was a minimum, I initially wanted some DH wheels) and I finally took the Hope pro 4 Tech Enduro 650B wheels. One negative point with that frame : it has a 9QR rear axle... Will the "Hope-Power" be enougth to compensate ?
Tyres are from Maxxis with the Minion DHR II 27.5x2.30
Brakes :

Lets take a moment to think a bit... (since im not used to it :D ) What brakes have a good value, for a pretty low price... Shimano !
Im not used to put Shimano brakes on my bikes, since I feel like we see them too often on bikes, but with a limited budget, and as everybody is saying that they are doing the job well, I'll use the SLX here, 180mm rear 203mm front, with the Shimano vetilated pads for better cooling.

Other peripherics :

Seatpost will be a KS Kruxi Integra so you can set your saddle high as you want while riding. The named saddle will be a SDG Circuit MTN yellow.
The stem will be a Truvativ HolzFeller 50mm, holding the SB3 Flowy DH 810mm bars (but I'd cut the shorter, 810mm is too wide). Finally, the grips will be the SB3 Kheops Lock On.

Conclusion :

The final bike is a 12.5KG fun bike, meant only for fun (too heavy/engaged for XC, not strong enougth for Enduro competitions)  which will cost you around 2450€ !
